Across the Pond is a Young Adult Fiction book. Why did you choose this genre to write? Did you choose it or did it choose you?
Interesting question, I guess a little bit of both. I wanted to write something for younger readers, yet as the book ran its course with the romance part of the story developing the ages moved from teens to young adult.
In regards to promotion, what have you been doing to promote your book online?
Not counting using this wonderful promotion group, and my virtual book tour. I have been appearing on radio interviews, blogs, sites such at Authors Den and anything else I can find to join that will help push my book. There are many places on the internet that offer services and ways for getting your book known with little cost.
Of course the wonderful amount of reviews my book has received at Amazon has also helped.
Of all the promotional items (bookmarks, press kits, etc…) you have used to promote your book, which one was used most effectively?
Hard question, how can you tell which has worked best?
I think the online process, virtual tours and web radio shows would be top of my list.
Do you feel that the Internet has opened doors for authors who never dreamed they’d ever see a publishing contract and how has it influenced you in regards to your own publishing journey?
Oh yes this day and age makes the world a much smaller place one web radio interview is heard around the world, and a virtual book tour blog can be read by more people than if you were touring book stores for ten years.
If you were in the middle of Manhattan (or any busy thoroughfare) and you wanted to call attention to your book, what would you do and what would you say?
I think I would make sure I had an England shirt on and perhaps waving an English flag.
I would offer samples of English foods that are different crisps/Chips, candy/sweets etc. Ask people what the English for various American words was, and hand out sheets about how the Union Jack (UK flag) was made up of three different flags. St George of England, St Andrew of Scotland and St Patrick of Ireland (Wales is a Principality not a country so does not count.
If you could trade places with any author just for a day, who would it be and why?
Very hard question, I really could not say, but perhaps any author who lives in England so I could visit the local supermarket and stock up on the English goodies I miss.
Lastly, how do you determine your book’s success?
If people are enjoying the book then to me it’s a success. Every day I check the reviews at Amazon or on various blog sites. The wonderful things people of all ages have said give me that feeling of success.
